Literary Fund
In Australia:
A sub-fund has been established with the Australian Communities Foundation and aims to commemorate Hazel’s life and her writing legacy through activities that support biography and writing in general. The sub-fund will:
- Support an annual lecture to be given in Hazel’s name by a notable biographer or writer. This will be held in Australia each March at the Wheeler Centre in Melbourne and at the Adelaide Writers Festival.
- Assist a writer with a Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship to encourage a writing proposal by funding travel and research. The focus will be on, but not restricted to, biography.
The inaugural winner of the 2012 Hazel Rowley Literary Fellowship is Mary Hoban who is undertaking a biography of Julia Sorell. She speaks about her project with Jim Davidson and Della Rowley on Books and Arts Daily with Michael Cathcart on March 15th 2012.
